Birthing Kit Project

ry hour 33 women die of complications related to pregnancy and childbirth.  An estimated 385,000 women die annually in childbirth, many from preventable infections.

Zonta Club of Defiance, over the years has arranged birthing kit assembly days to put together simple clean birthing kits that are sent to help birthing assistants in developing countries.  Each kit contains a sheet of plastic, gauze, string, a blade, soap and gloves.

Over the years we have been able to have individuals going on mission trips deliver the kits in suitcases as they travel.  To date our kits have been delivered to Cambodia and Haiti.
